This graphite on paper self-portrait depicts the painter at the age of 57. The artist is interpreted symmetrically perfect in the centre of this vertical composition, with a serious expression and penetrating gaze making eye contact with the spectator inevitably. He is wearing a grey jacket, a white shirt and black tie; the figure is on a neutral background drawn with just some ruling lines.

From the technical point of view, it is remarkable how he softened the lines making them less sharp and there is even a light movement in this static portrait.

The signature is on the lower left side and says “A. López Torres”.
