This piece of art is a human anatomy study from his training period in the School of Fine Arts of San Fernando in Madrid.

In this big vertical composition with neutral background it is depicted a bare-chested man holding a long stick with his left hand. The artist’s evolution in colour harmony and clarity is observed in the figure’s chest, where he paints the volumes with great skills. The light coming from the left shows the skin temperature.

If staring at the figure from left to right, it is appreciated how the painter has used similar tones in skin and background to integrate the figure in the pictorial space.
