year 1956
Oil/Panel
28 x 25 cm
Both works were painted during his stay in Santoña (Cantabria), where López Torres worked as a teacher until the end of 1956.
These paintings represent the special colour of a landscape of the north of Spain and capture its atmosphere. Although their foreground seems to be unfinished, the artist’s work process can be deduced, how he starts painting the upper part first and the brushstroke is clear and direct, without prior outlines and few changes at the end.
The painting is not signed.
Donated by Antonio López Torres in a public deed, 14.10.83.
