Horizontal composition of a landscape with a group of children in the foreground. In this group there is a boy, dressed in beige trousers, grey waistcoat, white shirt and brown jacket, who focuses our attention because he is the only one standing, looking to the left as if something had captured his interest. The other four boys of this group are sat on the floor talking. In particular, the two boys on the right are unfinished, as in the lower right part of the composition the wooden texture can be observed.

The ground combines reddish and green tones, and there are more figures in the background: some of them are sat on the floor, some of them are walking; even some animals are distinguished.

The colour range is violet and blue to represent the far hills in the background. The sky is clear with some clouds on the right.

This unfinished version is a copy of the one exhibited in the Provincial Museum of Ciudad Real (also known as Plain with children) and painted by the artist himself in 1934.

The painting is signed on the lower left part as “A. López Torres”.

Donated by his sisters Eulalia and Carmen López Torres in a public deed, 28.4.93.
